건강과 행복에 대한 정의들에 어떻게 접근할 수 있으며, 육체적 건강과 사회연결망의 관계를 검토하고자 하는 것이 이 강연의 궁극적인 목적이다. 8년째 매년 수행하고 있는 어린이/청소년 행복지수 국제비교 연구 결과를 살펴보고 건강과 사회관계가 어떻게 연관되어 있는 지에 대한 논의를, 노년의 건강에 대한 강사 자신의 일련의 연구들을 바탕으로 살펴보게 된다. 특히 사회 연결망과 뇌 연결망 사이의 관계와 이에 따른 건강에 대한 함의는 매우 새로운 주제이다.
The goal of this lecture is to explore approaches to the definitions of health and happiness and inquire into the relationship between physical health and social networks. In this lecture, Yoosik Youm will examine the results of an international comparative study of children and youth happiness index, which he has been involved with every year for the last eighth years. The relationship between health and social relationships will be discussed by analyzing a series of studies by the lecturer on the health of the elderly. Specifically, the correlation between the social networks and the brain networks, and resulting implications for health, are unique topics in this field.
염유식 (연세대 사회학과 교수)
연세대학교에서 경영학으로 학사와 석사를 마쳤고, Univ. of Chicago에서 사회학으로 박사학위를 취득하였다. 2000년에 박사학위 취득 후 5년동안 University of Illinois at Chicago에서 사회학과 조교수로 연구하다가 연세대학교 사회학과로 옮겨 현재 연세대학교 사회학과 교수이다. 연구 분야는 건강, 조직 , 성, 가족으로 가족으로 방법론으로는 주로 통계와 연결망 분석을 사용한다.
Yoosik Youm (Professor, Department of Sociology, Yonsei University)
Yoosik Youm graduated from the Yonsei University School of Business with a bachelor's and master's degree, and earned his doctorate in Sociology from the University of Chicago in 2000. Subsequently, he spent five years researching at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a sociology assistant professor, and then transferred to Yonsei University School of Sociology. He is currently a professor of sociology at Yonsei University. His research areas include health, organization, sex, and family, and he mainly uses statistics and network analysis as his methodology.
