작품을 감상하고 분석하고, 심지어 쓰고 만들 때, 사용하는 언어가 ‘누구의 언어’인가라는 관점에서 세미나 참석자들이 본인의 프로젝트들을 점검해 볼 수 있는 자리가 된다. 『젠더, 감정, 정치(2016)』에서 지적하듯이, 엘프리데 옐리네크는 남성적 언어에 의해 점유된 장르에 대한 인식을 절감하며, 여성 포르노 작성의 실패에 대한 고백을 한다. 치유에 목적을 두지 않는 헤르타 뮐러의 텍스트들, 쿳시의 작품에서 지배적 서사 곁의 서사를 읽는 행위로서의 정치적 행위, 더불어, 가야트리 스피박의 An Aesthetic Education in the Era of Globalization(2013) 등을 경유하는 사유 훈련을 제안 해본다.
When appreciating and analyzing artwork, even when writing and creating them, whose language are we using? This question is the starting point for this seminar, which will become a place where participants can analyze their own projects. As Ok-Hee Im points out in her book “Gender, Emotion, Politics: First year of Feminism, all about emotion” (2016), Elfriede Jelinek, acutely aware of the genre occupied by masculine lexicons, confesses to the failure of female pornography. In this lecture, Ok-Hee Im will suggest cogitation training via Herta Müller's texts, which do not aim for healing, and the political act of reading the narrative outside of the dominant narrative through the works of Coetzee as well as Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s “An Aesthetic Education in the Era of Globalization” (2013)

경희대 영문학과와 동대학원을 졸업하고, 같은 대학에서 영문학을 가르쳤다. 현재 여성문화이론연구소의 공동대표이자 여성문화이론지 『여/성이론』의 편집주간이며, 현 경희대학교 후마니타스 칼리지 교수이다. 『당대비평』 2000년 봄호에 「청바지를 걸친 중세의 우화」라는 글을 싣는 등, 여러 매체에 페미니즘 관련 글들을 발표하고 있다. 여성문화이론연구소에서 5년간 정신분석학을 연구해 『페미니즘과 정신분석』, 『한국의 식민지 근대와 여성 공간』, 『다락방에서 타자를 만나다』, 『주디스 버틀러 읽기: 젠더의 조롱과 우울의 철학』등의 책을 썼다. 역서로는 『고독의 우울』, 『생각의 함정』,『여성과 광기』, 『심화와 의미』, 『티핑 포인트』, 『뫼비우스 띠로서 몸』, 『보이는 어둠』, 『아름다운 선택』, 『유리천장을 부숴라』, 『니체가 눈물을 흘릴 때』 등이 있다.
Ok-Hee Im (Professor, Humanitas College, Kyung Hee University)
Ok-Hee Im graduated from Kyung Hee University's English Literature Department, and taught English literature at the same university. She is currently co-president of the Women's Culture and Theory Institute (gynotopia), an executive editor of women’s cultural journal, “Yeo /Seong Eeron,” and a professor at Humanitas College, Kyung Hee University. She has also published articles on feminism in various media, including an article titled “Medieval Times Fables wearing Blue Jeans” in the Spring 2000 issue of “DBpia.” She studied psychoanalysis for five years at the Institute for Women's Culture and Theory and is the author of “Feminism and Psychoanalysis,” “Modern Colony and Women's Space of Korea,” “Meet the Other in the Attic,” and “Reading Judith Butler: Philosophy of gender's ridicule and depression.” Her translated works include Radclyffe Hall’s “The Well of Loneliness,” Zachary Shore’s “Blunder: why smart people make decisions,” Phyllis Chesler’s “Women and Madness,” Claude Levi-Strauss’s “Myth and meaning,” Malcolm Gladwel’s “The Tipping Point,” Elizabeth Grosz’s “Volatile bodies: toward a corporeal feminism,” William Styron’s “Darkness visible,” Mark Salzman’s “Lying awake,” Susan Wilson Solovic’s “(The) Girl's guide to power and success,” and Irvin D.
