『광기, 예술, 글쓰기(2016)』을 바탕으로, 예술가 개인의 ‘광기’라는 정신적 상태가 도출한 텍스트들을 살펴본다. 바슬라트 나진스키, 다니엘 파울 슈레버 등의 글쓰기 등이 구체적 사례이다. “1800년대 말에서, 1900년대 초, 유래가 없을 정도의 급격한 변혁기”의 기술적 발명들의 맥락 하에서, 작성된 막스 노르다우의 광기에 대한 근대적 인식을 분석한 내용이 강의의 출발점 혹은 밑그림이다. 관련지어, 시각 이미지와 언어에서의 차이점을 전제로, 함께 토론하면 좋을 법한 질문들을, 다른 예술가들의 텍스트 및 조형 작품들을 탐색해 본다.
Using his own book “Madness, Art, Writing” (2016), Nam-See Kim will guide us through the texts derived from the mental state of an artist's "insanity." Writings of Vaslav Nizinskii, Daniel Paul Schreber, and others, will be used as specific examples. The analysis of the modern perception of the madness by Max Nordau, in the context of the technical inventions during "the age of sudden transformation, from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, which brought rapid changes like never before,” will be the starting point or outline for this lecture. In relation to this, he will explore and discuss questions on the differences that exist in visual imagery and language by looking at the texts and artwork of other artists.
김남시 (이화여대 조형예술학부 교수)
독일 베를린 훔볼트대학교 문화학과에서 박사 학위를 받았고, 현재 이화여자대학교 조형예술대학 예술학 전공 조교수이다. ‘우리 사회와 세계에서 일어나는 여러 일들이 어떤 의미를 가지는 것일까? 라는 질문을, 감성을 통해 세상을 바라보는 미학의 관점에서 연구하고 있다. 그동안 지은 책으로는『광기, 예술, 글쓰기』이 있고, 『권력이란 무엇인가』, 『한 신경병자의 회상록』, 『노동을 거부하라!』, 발터 벤야민의 『모스크바 일기』와 다니엘 파울 슈레버의 『한 신경병자의 회상록』, 칼 슈미트의 『땅과 바다』 등을 번역했다. 그 외에 미학, 문화 및 매체론, 미술 이론과 관련한 다수의 논문을 썼다.
Nam-See Kim (Professor, The College of Art and Design, Ewha Womans University)
Nam-See Kim received her doctorate from the Cultural Studies Department, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, and is currently an assistant professor at the Studies in Visual Arts Department, The College of Art and Design, at Ewha Womans University. Through her work, she asks, “What are the meanings behind the events that happen in our society and in the world?”, and uses a perspective of aesthetics that looks at the world through the lens of sensitivity. She has authored books such as “Madness, Art, Writing,” and also translated books including “Was ist Macht?”, “Feierabend!,” Walter Bendix Schönflies Benjamin’s “Moskauer Tagebuch,” Daniel Paul Schrebe’s “Memoirs of My Nervous Illness” (original German title, “Denkwürdigkeiten eines Nervenkranken”), and Carl Schmitt’s “Land und Meer”. She has also written several research papers on aesthetics, culture and media theory, and art theory.
